Common Terms
Things defined here do not need to be explained in game.
  • AFK: basic keyboard actions are forbidden. This covers movement, un-AFK taunts, voice commands.
    • Crouching is not AFK. Any order to AFK means REDs must stand up (unless a day is active which disallows this).
      • This does not include being forced to crouch by the map. (Force-crouching is AFK.)
    • Spraying sprays/Noisemakers are not AFK.
  • AFM: away from mouse fully. This does not cover mic or chat.
    • Healing/Unhealing is considered AFM unless the warden orders otherwise.
  • AFK AFM: away from keyboard & mouse fully.
    • AFK/AFM does not restrict text or voice chat.
  • AFK Taunt: taunts that do not have a definite end (e.g. High Five) and/or do not automatically move the player (e.g Mannrobics.)
    • Examples of non-AFK taunts are default taunts, conga, etc.
    • Repeatedly using and stopping an AFK taunt is un-AFK.
      • By default, you may untaunt & retaunt 3 times before you are un-AFK.
  • LR: last request.
  • DR: death request.
  • FF: friendly fire.
  • KoS:kill on sight.
    • Auto-KoS: Anything that will nearly always make a RED KoS as defined by General Jail rule #1.
  • Bomb/bum-rush:travel without delays or detours.
    • Detouring and delaying must be reasonable. You can not run anywhere you want.
  • Freekill: Killing RED(s) without reason.
    • MFK: Mass freekill.
  • Baiting: when a BLU gets in melee range of a RED, generally. See Baiting section for more detail/info.
  • Active mini-games: mini-games that must be activated and/or are exited via teleportation outside of the mini-game.
  • Obby: Obstacle Course.

Warden Days
Days/orders explained here do not have to be explained in-game. These are not the only days/orders available, but rather some of the more common ones.

  • Out of/Inside Cell Rebel Day: REDs may not be outside of cells/REDs may not be inside cells. Does not apply to RED mini-games.)
  • Lava Day: REDs may not be on the floor of the map and must be on something higher. By default, beds and windows count as structures above the floor. Warden may choose to allow other structures pending no rule violations.
    • Taunts like the Zoomin' Broom do not count for Lava Day as the hitbox is still on the ground.
  • Altitude/Elevation Day: REDs may not change their z-axis (e.g. jump, crouch, move up or down, etc.)
  • Cell Wars: Warden turns on FF with the purpose of cellmates engaging in combat. The warden may specify that one person must remain in each cell when Cell Wars ends.
  • Line Wars: Warden turns on FF with the purpose of REDs fighting within the cells and lines surrounding the cells.
    • The cells must be kept open for this minigame.

  • Trivia: Jeopardy or Weakest Link, depending on the map you are playing on.
    • Jeopardy/trivia must be done with simple math/geography, Valve games, Jailbreak (WLN), GMod, Minecraft, or Pokémon related questions. No other question types are allowed. Questions must be within reason (no uncommon terms, etc.).
      • Simple here is defined as not needing any external assistance to help answer a question, such as a calculator, pencil/paper, or a map.
  • FR-LR: First Reaction, Last Reaction.
    • If the warden says "First Reaction:" followed by a command, the first player to do the action dies.
    • If the warden says "Last Reaction:" followed by a command, the last player to do the action dies.
  • Simon Says: Simon Says.
    • Warden must say either "Simon says we're now playing Simon Says, Simon says I'm Simon," or "Simon says I'm Simon, Simon says we're now playing Simon Says."
    • Warden/Simon may rename Simon, but must first start out as "Simon."
      • Renaming must not be similar sounding, such as "Diamond Says."

Special Days / Rounds / Mini-Games
  • Games/days must be explained fully every time they are played unless they are in the list below.
  • Custom days may not infringe any of the REDs protections under the rules.
  • Ghosting is not allowed unless in instances of massive delaying.
  • All games listed must be completed.
REDs are free to do what they like unless they attack BLUs/enter Armory or subsequent areas.
  • May not be initiated outside of warden being killed or LR.
  • BLUs are unable to bait outside of class specific baiting.
  • Last Guard applies.
  • REDs will be KoS if they do any of the following listed:
    • Heal a rebel.
    • Enter the armory/stand in the doorway.
    • Breaking breakables leading to armory.
    • Attack a BLU.
    • Is the last RED alive.
    • Body-block an entrance/exit for a long period of time after being asked to move.

Hunger Games
Hunger Games is a game where REDs are set free and FF is enabled.
  • The warden may allow/disallow ammo, camping, and teaming, unless the LR has already defined such and such are allowed/disallowed.
  • BLUs are unable to bait outside of class specific baiting. They may spectate the REDs.

War Day
A mini-game where all the BLUs are sent to hide in a building. REDs are then allowed to enter the armory to get ammo and kill BLUs.
  • REDs are KoS 20 seconds after the cells are opened.
  • FF may not be enabled during this game-mode.
  • May only be done every 3 rounds.
  • BLUs may not leave the area until they are the last guard or 4 minutes have passed, whichever comes first.
  • BLUs may “bait” on this day (rev weapons, sticky trap, etc.)
  • No LR can be given.

Last Request-Only Mini-Games
These days/games are only allowed to be done as a last request.
Hide and Seek
BLUs stay in the armory for a minimum of 90 seconds, during which REDs hide. After 90 seconds, BLUs hunt and kill the REDs.
  • Must be started at the beginning of the round.
  • All BLUs are required to stay in the armory for a minimum of 90 seconds.
  • LR is given to the last RED.
    • REDs can hide in Armory, areas connected to Armory, etc. and still get LR.
  • If 2 or more REDs are hiding in the same spot and are the last REDs, they are both KoS.
Meat Grinder
FF is enabled in a small area with REDs crammed inside.
  • Cell Wars & Line Wars are not Meat Grinder permitting REDs are in their respective spawn cells.
  • Examples of places where FF is not considered Meat Grinder:
    • Pool.
    • Arena.
  • Examples where it is:
    • Medic Bays.
    • Deathrun.

Pokemon Day
REDs and BLU melee fight each other in a systematic 1v1 duel to either team's death. Trainers on both teams pick fighters.
  • Warden is automatically BLU team's trainer and must ask a question relating to TF2/math to pick who gets to be the trainer for RED, unless someone has picked themselves as the trainer for LR.
    • You may pick others than yourself to be trainer when you get LR, however they can refuse it.
    • Trainers may not pick themselves as a Pokemon until they are the last team member (excluding Freedays).
    • Trainers are the only ones who choose Pokemon.
  • Triple battles max are allowed.
  • Only melee weapons and their effects are allowed.
  • Wardens may not give orders/days outside of Pokemon Day.
    • The exception is restricting movement/position of non-combatants and restricting where combatants fight.
  • No Last Guard.

Free-for-All LR's
The round is a free-for-all with different characteristics depending on the LR.
  • This covers LR's such as Purge, Medieval Day, & Samurai Day.
  • You may not delay as the last alive players.
  • Warden is not allowed.
  • Does not count towards Warden's Rule No. 4 (FF every 3 rounds.)
  • Guard rules (such as armory camping) do not apply to this day.

Banned Days/Games
These days/games break a rule/are game breaking and, as such, should not be used.
  • Opposite Day. (This is warden stating all of his orders are to be followed to the opposite extent.)
  • Shoot or Don't Shoot. (This is asking REDs to choose between a BLU shooting or not shooting another RED.)
  • Triangle Game. (Having prisoners stand in a triangle formation and choose a prisoner to die without seeing the other's choices.)
  • Peace Day. (Turning on FF and telling REDs not to kill each other.)
  • Trust Fund. (If one RED rebels, other REDs are KoS as a result.)
  • Armory Tour.
  • Ben's 9 Square. (Restricting squares in Crush/Crash Game or 9 Square in any way.)
    • You may still do 1 per square for 9 Square.

Banned Weapons
These weapons are not allowed to be used. Normally they are automatically blocked, however, in-case of any exploits, this is the list of them:
  • Amputator
  • Atomizer
  • Disguise Kits
  • Eureka Effect
  • Invis Watches
  • Pan

General Jail Rules
  1. Doing any of the following will result in a RED being KoS, provided BLUs witnessing it:
    • Attacking/killing a BLU that isn't baiting.
    • Entering armory/secret ammo spots.
    • Standing in the armory doorway and keeping it open or blocking the entrance.
    • Blocking doorways from closing.
    • Map exploiting to prevent death.
    • Assisting rebels as Medic.
    • Leaving cells via any method at the beginning of the round before there is any order to go somewhere other than your cell (the exception to this is if it is a Freeday).
  2. Rebels can be pardoned (save it not being favoritism/last RED).
  3. The same day/round may not be run more than three times in a row.
  4. Impersonating the warden is not allowed.
  5. If the warden has not given orders before the doors open, it's a Freeday.
  6. Excluding staff, nobody may speak over the warden.
  7. Upon warden's death, it is a Freeday, unless a BLU has taken their place.
    • Upon Warden's death, all orders/days are nullified; unless the Warden taking their place has previous orders apply.
      • Any RED KoS as a direct result of an order, and not of any auto-KoS actions, are auto pardoned upon Warden's death and should not be killed.
  8. Ghosting is forbidden. This means a dead person giving any info/influencing the game in any way.
    • The only exception to the ghosting rule is when a RED(s) or BLU(s) is (are) excessively delaying the end of the round and no staff are on.
  9. Do not delay/stall the round.
  10. Camping Armory/Medic is not allowed.
    • However, if you are actively fighting, you may stay there for an extended period. You cannot stay in either area.
  11. No hiding in areas where you cannot be found or accessed, such as secret rooms that only work once or team-restricted areas.
    • Exception: you may hide in TARDIS during Hide and Seek.
  12. Camping map based teleportation entrances/exits is not allowed. It is considered an exploit/delaying.
  13. Do not deliberately spread false info about the game/rules.
  14. You must use the '!r' command to ask for a repeat.
    • You must be AFK to ask for a repeat and remain AFK for that repeat.
    • You are always allowed to ask for a repeat, even if it means postponing a current order (e.g. typing !r whilst crouch walking).
    • You must ask for a repeat within 10 seconds of the end of an order.
    • You must wait for an order to be done to ask for a repeat.
  15. Only staff are allowed to do Mic Checks.
  16. If a majority of a server agrees that a warden is giving orders too fast, then they must slow down.

Warden Rules
  1. The warden must have a clear, tolerable/satisfactory microphone.
  2. Commands only apply if said through voice-chat.
    • The only exception is asking questions through warden chat.
  3. Wardens aren't allowed on Freedays.
  4. Friendly fire, such as Cell Wars, is permitted but can only be used every three rounds. However, wasting FF is not allowed.
    • Wasting FF is defined as turning on FF solely to reset the cooldown timer, examples include:
      • Turning on FF at any point during DR.
      • Switching FF on and off very quickly.
  5. The following orders, or orders similar to them, are not allowed:
    • Impossible orders.
      • Trick orders are allowed, however.
    • Forcing the death of a player. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Ordering to go into an active mini-game.
      • Running into a death pit.
    • Whoever jumps first gets LR.
    • Forcing REDs to do constant 360s/turning.
    • Renaming REDs to words similar in pronunciation (e.g. "breads," "beds," "ribs," etc.).
      • Similarly, the warden may not use these words as part of a trick order.
    • Orders with multiple negatives.
    • Orders/days that force taunts.
      • Orders forcing RPS are the sole exception.
    • Defining orders/mini-games in the rules as days.
    • Any form of racing.
      • This includes orders such as "First RED to the end of obby receives LR."
    • Any days regarding looking.
      • This includes "look up day," "look down day," etc.
    • Any days forcing voice commands.
    • Custom days created by the warden with more than three identifiable steps.
  6. Guard Slay is an ability given to the warden to slay rule-breakers; misuse is strictly prohibited. Warden may only slay guards if see a guard is breaking a rule.
    • BLUs may not be slain for offenses done in previous rounds with the exception of repeated mass freekillers.
    • Staff may allow/disallow vote-slaying when they are online at their discretion.
  7. Wardens may only use built in map features as part of any order/game. Sprays, lasers, etc may not be used.
  8. The warden cannot lie.
    • This applies to actual orders. Wardens stating that today is Thursday while being Friday does not constitute a punishment.
  9. The warden must give one repeat per order unless a RED doesn't request it.
  10. Wardens must comply with an LR. Exceptions are listed in the Last Request section.
  11. REDs must be allowed a method of communication. You cannot forbid them from speaking both in chat and in mic.
    • Similarly, you cannot tell them to crouch the whole day, therefore, meaning they can't chat, then order them to not speak on mic.
    • During activities that require significant use of your keyboards (crouch day, jump day, etc.), REDs must be allowed the use of their mics.
  12. The last warden’s order overrides all previous orders if the order contradicts them, except during a day. Warden days override orders.
  13. Warden hogging is forbidden. All BLUs must be given a chance to go warden.
  14. The last standing warden may choose if he wants to kill all RED team players or if he wants to finish the round without being last guard.
    • However, once warden picks one, they must commit to it. Wardens must also !uw (unwarden) if they plan to kill all.
    • The warden must !uw (unwarden) right away and not give any further orders, otherwise it is assumed they're continuing the round.

Guard/BLU Rules
  1. BLUs may not freehit/freekill.
    • Throwing projectiles, airblasting, or any other form of "non-damage" is considered freehit. (Including freedays.)
      • The rocket/sticky jumpers are exempt from this.
    • BLUs winning RPS is not freekill.
      • However, BLUs who intentionally interrupt RPS taunts not meant for them is considered freekill.
    • Similarly, REDs winning RPS is not rebelling.
  2. BLUs must listen to the warden at all times.
  3. BLUs may not team hit/kill.
    • If requested for Death Request, however, they may.
  4. BLUs may not roam and/or play mini-games as they please unless the warden states they can or they are searching for a rebel.
  5. BLUs may not interfere with active mini-games without warden's permission.
  6. BLUs may not shoot minigame projectiles nor run through Minefield at any point outside of DR.
    • Minigame projectiles refers to Box Game's boxes, soccer balls, etc.
  7. BLUs may not break breakables/complete RED secrets (unless in response to rebels).
    • A staff member may slay you for breaking breakables then switching to RED.
  8. Opening the cell doors before the round has started is not allowed.
  9. BLUs must have a tolerable/satisfactory microphone for others to hear clearly.
    • The exception to this being if the guard team needs filling and there are no one with one willing to do so.
  10. Demos may not sticky trap. (You may sticky jump and use in response to being attacked or rebelling.)
  11. BLUs may not remove debuffs/buffs caused by LR, nor force REDs to do the same.
    • Warden, however, may restrict the use of items in an LR (grappling hooks, mediguns, etc.)
  12. Last Guard Rule - The last guard must either kill the remaining REDs or continue the round (go warden).
    • No LR may be given if the guard chooses to kill.
    • Last Guard does not mean only BLU. At least one BLU must have died after a round start for this to apply.

Baiting is when a BLU gets into melee range of a RED.
  1. BLUs are baiting REDs if they:
    • Get into RED's melee range. (REDs can not chase/force it.)
      • This includes going to the edges of RED areas (if REDs are free to go there).
    • Are in the way of a RED traveling somewhere for the warden's orders (without detour/delay).
    • Are in a RED area with REDs also inside.
      • RED areas include:
        • Cells.
        • Areas necessary to play minigames (not BLU-side.)
        • Knife Pit.
        • Any other area of the map clearly defined as "RED."
      • Areas connected to RED areas (e.g. stairs, cave under 9 Square) are not considered a part of that RED area.
    • Constantly rev miniguns, sniper scope in, or wrangle sentry guns (without actively attacking rebels) in the direction of non-rebels.
  2. BLUs are not allowed to continuously bait.
    • BLUs in offense may be slain after a warning if they continue to bait.
  3. REDs may always hit and kill baiters, but not chase them.
    • REDs are only allowed un-AFM to attack baiters when an AFK or AFK AFM order is in place.
  4. Projectiles/Taunt-kills may be used to attack baiters (even for class-specific baiting outside of melee range).
    • However, warden may restrict using them to attack baiters.
  5. REDs destroying buildings works the same as baiting.
    • You may not KoS a prisoner for simply destroying one.

Favoritism is described as giving particular players an advantage or putting players at a disadvantage.
  1. Favoritism is strictly forbidden.
  2. Only staff can define what favoritism is. However, some common examples include:
    • Allowing a RED to rebel because they are your friend/you like them.
    • Killing a RED and not another for doing the same thing.
    • Pardoning one RED but not another for doing the same thing. (In this case kill them all or pardon all.)
  3. Mini-game specific examples include:
    • Wardens must have at least one guard alive to vote during mini games that require it.
      • Warden may not be the only vote.
      • If all BLUs besides warden die over the course of the game, you must end it, even if REDs have died.

Freeday players are not eligible for last request under any circumstance.
  1. A Freeday Player will be considered KoS if they do any of the following listed:
    • Lose their freeday status.
    • Press any mini-game buttons if they are active.
    • Interfere with a mini-game being played.
      • This includes keeping doors open.
    • Heal a rebel.
    • Enter the armory/stand in the doorway.
    • Breaking breakables leading to armory.
    • Attack a BLU.
    • Destroy/Sap buildings.
    • Is the last RED alive.
      • If the last RED alive is a Freeday, or there is one RED left on a Freeday-for-all, that RED is KoS and must be actively rebelling.
    • Body-block an entrance/exit for a long period of time after being asked to move.
Last Requests
  1. You may not require a RED to finish any order/mini-game to get LR. It should be given as soon as they are the last RED, provided there aren't freedays/rebels alive.
    • Mini-games/days that depending on voting/judging are an exception to this rule (e.g. Club Glod and Diner), as the last RED must earn their LR.
  2. Once there is one RED alive who is neither a freeday nor a rebel, that RED does not need to follow warden's orders and must be given a Last Request (after all of the other REDs are killed) and a Death Request.
    • However, this RED is not allowed to do anything auto-KoS until they receive their LR.
    • DR includes any commands given by the recipient (he/she is not limited to one command).
    • You may not attack nor kill the LR/DR recipient unless given specific permission by him/her. It is free-hit/killing to do so.
    • You may not delay or otherwise deny doing a DR.
      • If no DR is stated, but the recipient is attacking a BLU, the BLU must let the RED kill them.
  3. REDs cannot be given DR, LR, or pardoned when they are the last rebelling RED.
  4. Custom LRs cannot break server rules (MFK Day, etc.)
    • Custom LRs cannot be LRs already in the LR Menu (Hide and Seek, etc.)
    • If the custom last request requires the warden to say a word/sentence after every order, etc, the warden can decide if they want to perform the custom last request.
  5. If a custom LR includes a day, then by default that day lasts all-round (recipient can specify otherwise).
  6. Last request does not transfer over maps.

These are a set of precedents which must be followed when interpreting rules.
  1. If warden says the line in front of cells, it is considered to be the first line in front of cells, ergo the closest one.
  2. Here markers are a type of warden marker.
    • Here markers are always warden markers, but warden markers are not always here markers.
    • It's assumed when you are ordered to head to a warden marker that you are required to go to further markers until told otherwise.
  3. To be considered "in" a warden marker, you must be within or close to (in the case of collisions) the surrounding circle, or within the z-axis length of the pole.
  4. Cheating mini-games is up to the warden's discretion, as it is a technique based upon how the warden words his orders.
  5. However, by default, you cannot cheat active mini-games.
    • Some examples of active mini-games:
      • Jumping out of Sweeper.
      • Leaving Nine Square.
    • Some examples of games that are not active mini-games:
      • Obby on Jb_Minecraft.
      • Minefield.
  6. Being in physical doorways/entryways to areas is considered being in them. This also applies to:
    • Standing in the cell door or any other exits of the cell.
    • Standing on the armory door, in secret entrances with ammo access, or being in any alternative entry.
      • This includes any secret entrances that are able to access ammo/armory.(e.g. TARDIS to Armory; JailFort tunnel to Armory).
  7. For our purposes, going from the water to a raised area (such as a sweeper podium) is considered "jumping."
  8. Speedrunning (in deathrun) is defined as going two or more traps ahead of the majority of REDs.
