it honestly depends, if you're on your own i recommend playing hardcore mode, since normal survival/creative can get pretty boring unless you constantly have something to do or mods, and if you're with friends it's much more fun, however if you're playing java edition you'll need a third party server hoster like shockbyte or aternos

not as fun as it used to be. i think the all the updates past 1.11 have drastically changed how the game works and its lost its original charm. modded is cool.
