While looking over the jailbreak rules it is quite noticeable that it seems certain rules and regulations are either out of order, contradictory, or introduces terms that are not defined. This is not a new rules kind of thing. While obvious contradictions will be pointed out. Rules that do not contradict others will be put into the new rules because if I included that this post would be too much work. For editting: Black is utilized if the rule/section was not altered. Red is for rules that I am requesting being removed. Green is for the rules that I am requesting being added. Blue is for reasoning on why rules were changed. I had to cut this post in half because I hit the 30k limit. I will also be adding a "What the rules would look like if all suggestions were accepted" portion for ease of reading in the second comment as I hit the 30k words limit.

Introduction to Jailbreak:

Jailbreak is a game where BLU team, referred to as guards, and RED team, referred to as prisoners, struggle for control and freedom. Jailbreak is a game of cooperation, attention to detail, instruction following and strategy. One guard is given the authority as the Warden and commands both prisoners and guards. If a guard or prisoner does not follow the Warden's orders correctly or in time, that member is subject to the Warden's mercy. Guards work to assist as well as enforce the Warden's rule. The Warden and the guards work closely together to make sure that all prisoners remain in justified order. A victory for the guards is defined as ensuring all rebellions are crushed. Meanwhile, prisoners are aiming to either be that last prisoner or are intent on rebelling. Prisoner victories are defined by leading a successful rebellion hence the name, jailbreak. A mutual victory for both guards and prisoners is to have a single obedient prisoner. This single last prisoner is granted both a last request and a death request.

When the round boils down to its last legs, one lucky prisoner may stand out and be given a Last Request from the Warden, and will receive honorary treatment in the form of the Warden's mercy. If, however, one guard remains in the jail without his Warden, that guard will show no mercy to anything that moves.

Rules are organized in alphabetical order beyond the Terms of Service.

Added this if players did not know what jailbreak was.

Terms of Service:

By choosing to play on Wonderland.tf's Jailbreak servers, you, the player, agree to both read and comply by these rules. Failure to read or comply with our rules may result in a punishment. These rules are subject to change.

Added this because on other servers I played/staffed on stated that they never "agreed" to the rules. Mainly common sense though.

Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms:
  • AFK - keyboard actions are forbidden. This covers only movement, un-afk taunts, voice commands.
AFK contradicts itself as it states that actions are forbidden then states that it only covers certain keyboard actions. AFK Taunts are not specified in rules. I'd perfer just a list of all of them in a little subsection but that's just me
  • AFK - Keyboard actions are forbidden. Exclusions to this are chat and mic.
  • AFM - away from mouse fully. This does not cover mic or chat.
Rephrasing AFM to be similar to AFK
  • AFM - Mouse Actions are forbidden. Exclusions to this are chat, mic, and medic healing toggle.
  • AFK AFM - away from keyboard & mouse fully. This command halts all movement & actions.
Contradicts AFK and AFM as AFK and AFM state that AFK and AFM only cover certain things, for what they restrict, while AFK AFM covers all. AFK AFM is merely a combination of both AFK and AFM and does not require it's own definition.
  • LR - last request
Does not define what a Last Request is.
  • LR - Last Request. Last Request is given to the last obeying prisoner at the end of the round. Last Requests are received with a menu of options, included custom last requests. Last request does not transfer over maps. All custom last requests given from the last map are invalid.
  • Warden Hogging - When one guard goes warden without waiting at least INSERT TIME HERE to let others go warden.
Added because it was referenced in Warden Rules
  • DR - Death Request. Death Request is given to the last obeying prisoner at the end of the round. Death Request are a series of orders ordered by the prisoner who received the last request.
Death Request was not in the list of Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • FF - friendly fire
Does not define what Friendly Fire is.
  • FF - Friendly Fire. Friendly Fire is a setting that controls if teammates can injure each other. Friendly Fire can be enabled by the warden.
  • CC - collisions
The initialism makes no sense as there are not two "c"s in collisions. I have yet to hear this initialism in any jailbreak server or rather any multiplayer game with the intention of meaning collisions.
  • KOS - kill on sight
Does not define Kill on Sight
  • KOS - Kill on sight. A status utilized for rebelling prisoners meaning that they are to be killed.
  • Bomb rush - travel without delays or detours
  • Freehit - Injuring debuffing a prisoner without a reason that complies to rules
While being referenced in rules, no explicit definition is given.
  • Freekill - killing a red without reason
Changed red to a prisoner and disallowed reasons that do not comply with rules. Example: Reason is "I wanted to"
  • Favoritism - When specific players are given an advantage or specific players are put at a disadvange. This definition may only be interpreted by staff.
Moved from Favoritism
  • Freekill - Killing a prisoner without a reason that complies to rules.
  • Baiting - when a blue gets in melee range of a red, generally. See vii. Baiting for more detail.
Includes ",generally" which is extremely ambiguous and up for interpretation. Refers to another portion of the rules area.
  • Baiting - When a guard enters the melee range of a prisoner, or when a heavy revs mini-gun at reds, or when a sniper scopes on or near red. Baiting can also happen if guards enter an area dedicated to Prisoners such as cells or Red portion of Map Features. In this case, Prisoners may chase until the guard leaves the restricted zone.
  • Ghosting - When a dead player gives away information or influences the round in any way.
  • Last guard - When there are at least two guards on the guard team and all other guards have died. The last guard is allowed to freekill and freehit all prisoners. Should a Last guard wish to continue the round. He must swap to warden.
Moved from General Rules and condensed definition
  • Obby - Obstacle Course. A feature in maps that requires the prisoner to maneuver across obstacles in which failure can be fatal.
  • Trivia - A feature in maps that includes an area with contestant podiums, a host podium, and often seating. This feature can be used for asking questions in the attempt to kill Prisoners who cannot answer the questions outright or fast enough.
  • Rebelling- Refusing to comply with an order by the warden or attempting to flee, Standing in the armory door, or attacking guards beyond baiting. If a medic heals a rebeller they are also considered rebelling.
Referenced multiple times without a definition which is somewhat surprising considering its a key aspect of the game.
  • Freeday - A round where prisoners are free to do whatever they like without being considered rebelling or being KOS. Exclusions count as entering armory or attacking guards. Freedays derived from LR have the option to restrict the freeday to one individual or only a few. In this case if individuals do any of the following their freeday status will be revoked: Blocking the guards from entering an area or path after being told to move, activating map feature button's, or rebelling.
  • Hunger Games - A round where prisoners are released from cells and friendly fire is enabled. Warden has the options to restrict the area, forbid teaming up with other players, and may allow or disallow ammo usage. During Hunger Games, guards are not allowed to bait but are allowed to spectate. Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete.
  • War Day - A round where guards group up in an area designated by the warden. Inmates may acquire ammunition and kill guards without it be considered rebelling. Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete.
  • Pokemon Day - A round where both a designated prisoner, by Warden via math/TF2 question or LR, in which LR recipients can only designate themselves, and Warden are designated as "Pokemon trainers" while other prisoners and guards are considered "pokemon". Both "pokemon trainers" command their "Pokemon" to fight, fighting method designated by the warden or the LR. Warden may give commands before iniating Pokemon day but may not command the completion of map features. Warden may not interfere with pokemon fights in any way. Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete. Once a pokemon day is initiated, Pokemon fights must continue until the win condition is either completed or to the last man standing without interruption. Warden may not unwarden in a pokemon day.
  • Hide and Go Seek Day - A round where Warden and guards remain inside armory for a minimum of 3 minutes while prisoners hide. Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete. Staff are given the choice to freeze the guards and warden during this waiting period. After the guards and Warden have waited the time constraint they may search and kill all Prisoners until the win condition is met. Prisoners may not hide in spots inaccessible to others.
Added this section to combine Common Terms, Minigames, and Special Days / Rounds / Round Mini-games
Minigames

  • Obby - obstacle course
  • DR - deathrun
  • Trivia - jeopardy or weakest link depending on the map you are playing on
Obby(expanded to be more descriptive) and Trivia(expanded to be more descriptive) added to the Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms, DR-Deathrun contradicts DR-Death Request.

Special Days / Rounds / Round Mini-games
  • Games/Days must be explained fully every time they are played unless they are in the list below.
  • Custom days may not infringe any of the reds protections under the rules.
Freeday
  • Red are free to do what they like. If they attack guards or enter armory they will be KOS.
  • Guards cannot bait during this day.
  • Must be played to completion.
Hunger games

  • Hunger Games is a game mode where reds are set free and friendly fire is enabled.
  • The Warden may restrict the area's allowed, forbid teaming and allow or disallow ammo.
  • Blues may not bait but they can go spectate the game.
  • Must be played until completion.
Warday

  • A game mode where all the blues are sent to hide in a certain area and may not leave till they are last guard.
  • Inmates are then allowed to enter armory to get ammo and kill blues. FF may not be enabled during this game-mode.
  • Must be played until completion.
Pokemon day

  • Pokemon day is a day where reds and blu melee fight each other in a systematic 1v1 duel to either team's death with a trainer on both teams picking the fighters, warden is automatically blu team's trainer and must ask a question related to tf2 or math to pick who gets to be the trainer for red unless someone has picked themselves as trainer for LR. You may not pick anyone else but yourself as trainer when you get LR.
  • Pokemon day can be chosen through LR or warden's orders, This day must be given at the start of the round and must be played to completion, orders such as out of cell rebel and lava day are allowed before doing pokemon day but you can not play any other minigame before initiating Pokemon day.
  • During the pokemon fights warden may not activate any days that might disrupt a fighter in any way and must not give orders that will benefit one over the other.
  • During pokemon day warden may not unwarden to become last guard and must continue pokemon until either team dies.
Hide and Seek
  • Must be started at beginning of round, all blues are required to stay in armory for a minimum of 3 minutes.
  • During which reds can hide after which blues may hunt and kill the reds.
  • Admin if online can choose or choose not to freeze blues, Must be played to completion.
  • Reds cannot hide in locations inaccessible to others.
Moved the first two bullet points to General Rules. Freeday(expanded to be more descriptive and removed "must be played to completion" which doesn't make sense considering there is no objective to be completed), Hunger Games(compacted),Warday(compacted), Pokemon Day(compacted), and Hide and Seek were added to the Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms. I also replaced "Must be played to completion" with "Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete." because the original phrase never specified what completion was.

General Rules
  • In the Chretien Map, Guards may camp the Guard spawn as it is not armoury, any Prisoner entering is KOS, any Prisoner passing metal detectors is also KOS.
  • If Prisoners are ordered to head to a warden maker it is implied that prisoners are to head to every warden maker until told not to.
  • If warden says the line in front of cells, it is considered to be the first line in front of cells ergo the closest one.
  • Deliberately spreading false info about the game/rules is against the rules.
  • Standing in a cell door is not considered out of cell.
Moved from Rulings
  • Only Staff may initiate mic checks.
Was not specified who can do mic checks. Presumed staff are only ones considering VIPs could not.

  • Trivia may be done with either TF2 Questions or Question categories agreed by Warden and all non-rebelling prisoners in Trivia.
Moved From Rulings
  • RPS victories do not count as freekilling or rebelling by guards or prisoners, respectively.
  • Sprayed lines may not be utilized both as a definition of a Warden's order nor as an act of compliance of a Warden's order.
Moved from Rulings
  • Games/Days must be explained fully every time they are played unless they are in the list below.
  • Custom days may not infringe any of the reds protections under the rules.
Moved from Special Days / Rounds/ Round Mini-games
  • Blues may not Freehit/Freekill.
Replaced Blue with Guards and Warden
  • Guards and Warden may not Freehit/Freekill.
  • Outside of Death request and LRs such as The Purge or Rapid Rockets Day, BLUs may not teamkill.
The Purge and Rapid Rockets Day are not defined in the rules.
  • The same day may not be run three times in a row.
  • Reds may hit and kill baiters, they may not chase them.
Changed Reds to prisoners and changed baiters to baiting guards.
  • Prisoners may hit and kill baiting guards, they may not chase them.
  • Any prisoner that enters armory is KOS.
  • If the warden has not given orders before the doors have opened it's a freeday.
  • Upon warden death, it will be a freeday, unless a guard has taken his/her place after their death.
  • Ghosting is forbidden. This means a dead person giving any info away or influencing game in anyway.
Split into two parts. Moved second part to Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Ghosting is forbidden. Exclusing being when there is no staff on to remedy the situation and a Guard, Warden, or Prisoner is delaying the round by the following: Not actively rebelling as a rebelling prisoner when there is another prisoner to receive LR, hiding as last guard, last prisoner hiding.
    • The only exception to the ghosting rule is when a RED or BLU is excessively delaying the round (either not actively rebelling when the last non-rebelling RED is ready to receive LR, when a guard is hiding as last guard, or when a RED is hiding as last RED), and no staff are on to remedy the situation.

  • Dead and Spectator cannot use Mic chat.
  • Do not impersonate the warden(Giving orders as a normal guard or red).
Rewrote rule
  • Only Warden may give orders.
  • Rebels can be pardoned when their rebel status goes away,
Grammer issues and removed comma
  • Rebels may be pardoned when their rebel statues goes away.
  • they are auto pardoned if it went away and no one saw them kill or hit the guard.
This scenario is impossible. If a prisoner hits a guard the guard will see them. If the guard died then the body would still be there, the rebel status would be on them, the counter of whos alive would be different, and the tab menu will reflect that. In the case where no one notices those three things, there is nothing to pardon from because they were never marked as a rebeller.
  • Freedays however are not eligible for last request under any circumstance.
"However". Also the status of the death request was not specified.
  • Prisoners with freeday are not eligible for a last request or a death request.
  • No hiding in areas you cannot be found, e.g secret rooms that only work once
  • Blues cannot medic or armory camp.
Replaced Blue with Guard and rewrote the statement.
  • Guards may not remain inside the medic area of effect or within the armory for INSERT ALLOWED DURATION HERE
  • Do not delay the round or stall the round.
  • Do not abuse any exploits / glitches, instead notify any of the admins or make a thread on the forum.
  • Destroying buildings is not KOS unless warden specifies such.
  • Guards and Wardens may not kill reds with map exploits such as doors, in the case of accidents the blue should slay themselves.
Does not make sense, Utilizing map "exploits" should be allowed and shouldn't matter if they are KOS and if it was an accident guard would slay self anyway because that was freekill
  • Medics assisting rebellers are considered rebellers themselves.
Put into Rebelling definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Players may not speak over warden, the sole exception being an admin.
  • Orders/days that force taunts and meat grinder are both banned. (RPS for LR is an exception to this)
Meatgrinder portion of the statement has numerous exceptions that are listed in the rules or are featured in jailbreak maps: Hunger Games, War Day, Arena, RPS, etc. Also Meat Grinder is never defined in the rules.
  • Orders/days that force taunts are banned.
  • Trivia may be done with either TF2 Questions or Question categories agreed by Warden and all non-rebelling prisoners in Trivia.
Moved From Ruling
  • If you leave the cells via any method before the cells open, you are auto KOS.
  • You must be AFK to ask for a repeat, and remain AFK for that repeat.
  • You must use the '!r' command to ask for a repeat.
  • You are always allowed to ask for a repeat, even if it means postponing a current order. (For example typing !r whilst crouch walking).
Replaced You with Prisoner and removed second portion of bullet point three as it was already stated
  • If a prisoner leave the cells via any method before the cells open, you are auto KOS.
  • Prisoners must be AFK to ask for a repeat, and remain AFK for that repeat.
  • Prisoners must use the '!r' command to ask for a repeat.
  • Prisoners are always allowed to ask for a repeat
  • The admin room on JB Final and the top of box game on JB Minecraft are banned spots.
Rewrote statement
  • The Admin room on JB final and the top of box game on JB Minecraft are restricted to all players.
  • Prisoners are not allowed to chase baiters
Moved from Baiting because it was the last statement left.
  • Favouritism is strictly forbidden.
Moved from Favoritism as it was the last statement left.

Warden Rules

  • The warden must have a tolerable/satisfactory microphone for others to hear clearly.
  • Commands only apply if said through voice-chat.
  • Warden isn't allowed on freedays.
  • Warden may not order Prisoners to couch consistently
  • Warden may not forbid Prisoners from speaking in chat.
Moved from Rulings
  • Friendly fire such as cell wars is permitted but can only be used every 3 days.
Statement confuses days that utalize friendly fire vs friendly fire iteself
  • Friendly fire may only be enabled once every three days.
  • The warden cannot give an order to kill another guard.
  • The warden cannot give impossible orders, trick orders are allowed.
Neither of these are defined.
  • The Warden may not give orders impossible to complete.
  • The warden cannot give orders which force the death of a red. For example, "run into the sawblade."
An extreme amount of contradictions: Hunger Games, Arena, War Day, Sweeper, Pokemon Day, Cell Wars, Games requiring constant movement and having Warden stating that Prisoners must AFK, etc.
  • The warden cannot lie.
  • The warden must give one repeat per order, unless a red doesn't request it.
Disallows Warden giving multiple repeats or repeating of self volition.
  • The Warden must give at least one repeat per order.
  • Do not be AFK, doing this can delay the round.
Extreme amount of contractions: Any order that involves AFK
  • Warden can only reset traps if death run is being done a second time.
Does not specify for rest of guard team.
  • Warden and Guards can only reset traps if death run is being done a second time.
  • A wardens order is overwritten by new orders if they contradict each other, the exception to this being if the order is a day.
  • You may force an Engineer to move/destroy his buildings with a proper reason.
Engineers cannot build in jailbreak
  • Orders with multiple negatives are not permitted.
  • You may not require a red to finish any order/minigame to get LR. It should be given as soon as the they are the last red provided they haven't rebelled.
  • Warden hogging is forbidden, all blues must be given a chance to go warden.
  • The last standing warden may choose if he wants to kill all red team players or if he wants to finish the round without killing every red team player.
  • However once he picks one he is committed to it, you must also !uw in the case that you plan to kill all.
Contradicts the rule 2 above this one

  • Warden may not order: First prisoner to ACTION HERE gets LR.

Continued:
Guard Rules
  • Last guard rule - the last guard is allowed to massacre the remaining reds, or choose to continue the round. However, if the massacre has started then no last request can be issued. Last guard is not the same as only guard either, one guard must have died for it to be considered Last guard.
Reworded and moved to Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Guards must listen to the warden at all times.
Does not include compliance
  • Guards must listen and comply to the warden at all times.
  • Guards must not roam and play mini-games as they please unless the warden states they can or they are searching for a rebel.
  • Opening the doors before the round has started will result in a team ban. Guards need warden's permission to open cells.
  • Throwing/hitting mad milk, jarate or any other sources that don't damage the reds are considered "freehitting".
Moved to Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.

  • Guards must have a tolerable/satisfactory microphone for others to hear clearly.
  • The exception to this being if the guard team needs filling and there are no mics available to do so.
  • Sticky bombs are disallowed outside of jumping or in response to being attacked by rebels (No sticky trapping).
Freedays
A freeday will be considered KOS if they do the following listed:
  • Block paths or block doorways preventing guards from entering somewhere
  • purposely after being asked to move.
  • Press any mini-game buttons if they are active.
  • Healing a rebeller.
  • Enter the armory.
  • Attack a guard.
Moved to Freeday definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.

Last Requests
  • Once the last request is given, the red who received last request does not need to follow wardens orders and cannot be killed under any circumstances.
Changed red to prisoner and altered second half of order
  • Once the last request is given, the prisoner who received it does not need to follow the warden's orders from that point on and may only be killed after the last request has been chosen and the death request is complete.
  • A death request must be provided. If this prisoner is killed by a guard under any means, it will be treated like a free kill.
  • A death request is not limited to one command. Any orders given by the last request receiver are considered as being the 'death request' of the last request receiver. Denying or delaying the death request is punishable.
Split into two orders and moved first one to Death Request definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Denying or delaying the death request is punishable.
  • If a death request is not stated and the last request receiver starts hitting a blue, the blue must let the red kill them as it would be delaying otherwise.
  • Death requests exceeding two minutes may be ended at guards discretion.
  • Last request does not transfer over maps. Ignore any custom last request given from the last map.
Moved to Last Request definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • If the custom last request requires the warden to say a word/sentence after every order, etc. The warden can decide if he/she wants to perform the custom last request.
Removed the etc. because you cannot expect others to surmise a pattern or concept from one single example. Also etc in rules is dumb.
  • The custom last request cannot include something that might break the server rules/or jailbreak rules, doing this kind of last request will be ignored.
Baiting
  • Baiting is when a blue gets into melee range of a red, when a heavy revs their mini-gun at reds, or when a sniper scopes on or near a red.
Moved to Baiting definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Reds are not allowed to chase baiters, this means when hitting a baiter in your melee range,
  • you are not allowed to follow the baiter to attempt to hit the baiter more.
Condensed statement and replaced reds with prisoners.
  • Prisoners are not allowed to chase baiters
  • Guards entering red only area's such as Red deathrun are baiting and may be killed while they are inside.
  • Guards entering a red cell are also baiting and a red may hit them to remove them,
  • including during days such as lava day.
Compacted and moved to Baiting definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.

Favouritism
  • Favouritism is described as giving particular players an advantage or putting players at a disadvantage.
  • Only staff can define what favouritism is.
Moved to Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms.
  • Favouritism is strictly forbidden.
Moved to General Rules as it was the last rule

VIP
  • VIP's may not change classes unless they have not been in combat/pursual for a minute. They are limited to one class change a round.
  • They may not use the change class command to gain weapons during melee only days.
  • VIP's should not be running Mic Checks under any circumstances.
Removed because Mic Check is never specified after this incident.
Rulings
These are a set of precedents which must be followed when interpreting rules.
A Rulings section in a rules section. Removed expiration from Rulings section.
  • A red is not a rebeller if they win a game of RPS against a guard,
  • similarly a guard winning RPS is not Freekilling.
Combined both and then moved to General Rules
  • Standing in the armory door and keeping it open or blocking the entrance is considered rebelling.
Already stated
  • Sprayed lines are not considered lines, therefore going to a sprayed line may make you KOS.
Removed second half and reworded first half. Then moved to General Rules.
  • If warden says the line in front of cells, it is considered to be the first line in front of cells ergo the closest one.
  • Deliberately spreading false info about the game/rules is against the rules.
  • Standing in a cell door is not considered out of cell.
Moved to General Rules
  • In the Chretien Map, blues may camp the blue spawn as it is not armoury, any red entering is KOS, any red passing metal detectors is also KOS.
Changed Blue and Red to guard and prisoner and moved to General Rules
  • The last wardens order contradicts all previous orders, except during a day where the last wardens order is overridden by the day.
Already mentioned earlier when it was stated the newest warden orders take priority vs older ones.
  • Crouching and AFK, AFK are not compatible therefore any order to AFK means reds must stand up.
Removed because AFK definition nullifies this possibility
  • Reds must be allowed some method of communications, therefore you cannot forbid them from speaking both in chat and in Mic,
Removed first portion and rewrote second portion to chat only as some do not have mic and if warden stated mic only then this condition would be loophole'd. Moved to Warden Rules.
  • Similarly you cannot tell them to crouch the whole day therefore meaning they can't chat and order them to not speak on mic.
Rewritten, read comment above, and moved to Wardens Orders.
  • Reds can not be given DR, LR or pardoned when they are the last rebelling Red.
Removed as it was covered by LR definition
  • Healing/Unhealing is considered AFM unless the warden orders otherwise.
Moved first portion to AFM definition in Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms. Removed second portion because Warden is more likley to order no healing. Rules that can be broken by players are not rules at all.
  • It's assumed when you are ordered to head to a warden marker that you are required to go to further markers until told otherwise.
Changed You to prisoner and moved to general rules
  • Orders such as whoever Jumps first gets LR are banned.
Again, One cannot surmise a pattern from a single statement. Rewritten as this single individual and its varients are banned and moved to Warden rules
  • Jeopardy/trivia must be done with general knowledge and TF2 questions. Do not ask any type of questions besides these (ex. opinion questions, obscure questions about other media besides TF2, etc.)
General knowlege is relative as well as these types of questions get really boring really quickly. Rewrote this and moved to General Rules
Moved to Ghosting rule in General Rules

Finally:

Terms of Service:

By choosing to play on Wonderland.tf's Jailbreak servers, you, the player, agree to both read and comply by these rules. Failure to read or comply with our rules may result in a punishment. These rules are subject to change.

Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms:
  • AFK - Keyboard actions are forbidden. Exclusions to this are chat and mic.
  • AFM - Mouse Actions are forbidden. Exclusions to this are chat, mic, and medic healing toggle.
  • Bomb rush - travel without delays or detours
  • DR - Death Request. Death Request is given to the last obeying prisoner at the end of the round. Death Request are a series of orders ordered by the prisoner who recieved the last request.
  • Favoritism - When specific players are given an advantage or specific players are put at a disadvange. This definition may only be interpreted by staff.
  • FF - Friendly Fire. Friendly Fire is a setting that controls if teammates can injure each other. Friendly Fire can be enabled by the warden.
  • Freehit - Injuring debuffing a prisoner without a reason that complies to rules
  • Ghosting - When a dead player gives away information or influences the round in any way.
  • KOS - Kill on sight. A status utilized for rebelling prisoners meaning that they are to be killed.
  • Last guard - When there are at least two guards on the guard team and all other guards have died. The last guard is allowed to freekill and freehit all prisoners. Should a Last guard wish to continue the round. He must swap to warden.
  • LR - Last Request. Last Request is given to the last obeying prisoner at the end of the round. Last Requests are received with a menu of options, included custom last requests. Last request does not transfer over maps. All custom last requests given from the last map are invalid.
  • Warden Hogging - When one guard goes warden without waiting at least INSERT TIME HERE to let others go warden.
  • War Day - A round where guards group up in an area designated by the warden. Inmates may acquire ammunition and kill guards without it be considered rebelling. Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete.

General Rules

  • Guards and Warden may not Freehit/Freekill.
  • If a prisoner leave the cells via any method before the cells open, you are auto KOS.
  • If Prisoners are ordered to head to a warden maker it is implied that prisoners are to head to every warden maker until told not to.
  • If warden says the line in front of cells, it is considered to be the first line in front of cells ergo the closest one.
  • If the warden has not given orders before the doors have opened it's a freeday.
  • In the Chretien Map, Guards may camp the Guard spawn as it is not armoury, any Prisoner entering is KOS, any Prisoner passing metal detectors is also KOS.

  • Guards must not roam and play mini-games as they please unless the warden states they can or they are searching for a rebel.
  • Opening the doors before the round has started will result in a team ban. Guards need warden's permission to open cells.

Last Requests

  • A death request must be provided. If this prisoner is killed by a guard under any means, it will be treated like a free kill.
  • Death requests exceeding two minutes may be ended at guards discretion.
  • Denying or delaying the death request is punishable.
  • If a death request is not stated and the last request receiver starts hitting a blue, the blue must let the red kill them as it would be delaying otherwise.
  • Once the last request is given, the prisoner who received it does not need to follow the warden's orders from that point on and may only be killed after the last request has been chosen and the death request is complete.
  • The custom last request cannot include something that might break the server rules/or jailbreak rules, doing this kind of last request will be ignored.

VIP
  • VIP's may not change classes unless they have not been in combat/pursual for a minute. They are limited to one class change a round.
  • They may not use the change class command to gain weapons during melee only days.

  • Friendly fire may only be enabled once every three days.
  • Orders with multiple negatives are not permitted.
  • The warden cannot give an order to kill another guard.
  • The warden cannot lie.
  • Warden hogging is forbidden, all blues must be given a chance to go warden.
  • The warden is considered baiting if close enough to a red.
  • Warden isn't allowed on freedays.
  • The Warden must give at least one repeat per order.
  • The warden must have a tolerable/satisfactory microphone for others to hear clearly.
  • Warden and Guards can only reset traps if death run is being done a second time.
  • Warden may not forbid Prisoners from speaking in chat.
  • Warden may not order Prisoners to couch consistently
  • Warden may not order: First prisoner to ACTION HERE gets LR.
  • Warden may not require a red to finish any order/minigame to get LR. It should be given as soon as the they are the last red provided they haven't rebelled.
I thank you for reading over 90k characters of this post or if you TL;DR'd then thanks for crushing those 30k characters.
Thanks for reading!

I'm going to preface this by stating that we (staff) are currently working on an update to our Jailbreak rules.

I'll also aim to fix any grammatical issues in the rules and such when applicable.

Some rulings are also purposefully kept open-ended as to combat rule circumvention.

I feel like adding a whole introduction to Jailbreak will be daunting to people reading the rules, I mean they are already pretty long as it is. I would be willing to compromise adding a link to a guide to Jailbreak though instead, which I could make and could include an introduction like this.

I don't think we need a Terms of Service. It looks professional, but as you said it's common sense, and I think it will be mostly needless.

For your "Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms" section, I'll take into consideration some of the things you noted for the update since I do like some of the moving around, but I also do not want to create large explanations for them given that, for example with Warden Hogging, the definition for it is implied if you, well, know what hogging means, and also it will discourage people from reading the rules in the first place seeing these large blocks of paragraphs, so we need to really consider importance and organization when adding things such as this. Again I would be willing to compromise with a guide for this, though, and I plan to add explanations to some mini-games (albeit a sentence or two) when need be.

As for the rest, again I'll take into consideration some. I like how suggested rulings such as "Only staff may initiate mic-checks" and "RPS victories do not count as freekilling or rebelling by guards or prisoners, respectively" condense existing rules, but then I noticed there's some rules that you suggested that you seemed to just change the meaning of, such as what is allowed/disallowed on Trivia. So I would prefer that you make a reply noting the rules you want to be changed (in terms of meaning, not grammar) along with arguments for them, as this post is honestly really long and I am struggling to sift through it all. Rule additions/removals and rewording of the rules for grammatical/clarification purposes are two different ball parks.

I think there should be a rule stating to recieve LR, say in Deathrun, All reds MUST finish to receive lr. Because one person can just stall/ wait in the beginning the whole time, and get lr which isn't fair to the people trying to complete it.

Yes, but wardens can set standards, such as "You must be making continuous progress," and "You have to be trying to complete deathrun, otherwise you are KOS."

I mean if the RED is allowed to do that, then it's fair, and the other REDs are needlessly endangering themselves by doing Deathrun. As I see it, if the RED is able to make it to the end of the round following warden's orders (or at least being cunning) and overcoming any mini-games (be it by RNG or skill), then they deserve to receive LR.

It would seem good to do, perhaps the possibility of attaching that into rules should be considered.

Considering that jailbreak has EXTREME attention to detail it is only necessary to have an extreme amount of definitions to accompany the rules. Here is an example: Lava day. Most wardens call it out but because it was not part of rules the day should be defined since there is a rule to it. No warden ever defines it. For regular jailbreak players, this is not really an issue. To new jailbreak players, getting killing because of this "lava day" which would prompt them to look at the rules as they don't get it. What they get is nothing. There is no definition there, the player gets upset and leaves. Even in the rules prior to my post, there are certain days referenced with no definition. I would have loved to have added them to Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms but I had no clue what they were. Moving beyond days and lava day as an example, the rules prior to my post had many references to certain items but never defined what they were. This is the number one way to discourage players who do read the rules and realize they're useless as they do not define certain topics which may be used by wardens without explanation. However, considering the size of this undertaking I would recommend that Axioms, Definitions, and Initialisms does get moved to a separate post and linked to the rules.
Personally, I would like if you added explanations to the map features like I attempted to do with Trivia or Obby as that sounds like a wonderful idea.

I tried my best color coating which with blue, red, and green. Unfortunately for the second half of my post was not able to be color-coated because the editor was not bugging out due to the mass of characters utilized. This post was, for the most part, a rearrangement of rules, removing non-sense ones, clarifying others, and adding new definitions. While I did add make slight changes, such as trivia, the premises should be roughly the same. Unfortanently for the staff team, I intend on making a whole other post regarding certain rules that do not make sense to me and asking for major changes or edits to those rules after we clean up the current rules to be used as a book of reference for staff and players alike.

Well it would be in the rules but more-so as a "if you are unfamiliar with Jailbreak, refer to here," because it is not really something that would serve as rules/guidelines.

Ok I can understand you on the Lava Day example since technically you are supposed to explain days not written in the rules, and so we do plan to add it to the rules in a future update. Albeit, with Lava Day, and my point in general, I mean that any explanations for anything I want to base on importance and even then try to keep concise. I do not want to make a comprehensive list of all the possible activities in Jailbreak, as that is up to the warden, and honestly I wouldn't do Lava Day if it wasn't for the fact that it is so commonly used without explanation. Furthermore, map mini-games, aka. mini-games that aren't really "created" by the warden's orders (as they are just part of the map), is something that would fit better in the aforementioned introductory guide, as explainations are not really guidelines, more-so just stuff to help a newbie get accustomed to Jailbreak. Also, unless you believe warden hogging was the only example of this, some terms are just ones not requiring of a definition if you understand the meaning of the words themselves.

I am quite curious what rulings you consider as non-sense. I won't dismiss some are outdated/useless, such as the VIP guidelines for class changing, but all rulings were added with a reason, so of course any removal of any rulings will be with careful judgment.

I am quite curious what rulings you consider as non-sense.

I think a lot of these rules don't make sense and after this post runs through the staff team I intend to make another run with a mass suggestion of reforming rules. The non-sense rules I did edit or change, were only changed because they were contradicted by other rules or the scenario is impossible to occur, hence not requiring the rule. See the commentary in my original post to see the list of events and map features that contradict them/describe why the scenario is impossible.

"The warden cannot give orders which force the death of a red. For example, "run into the sawblade."

"they are auto pardoned if it went away and no one saw them kill or hit the guard."

"Orders/days that force taunts and meat grinder are both banned. (RPS for LR is an exception to this)"

PS: I feel really bad you gotta sift through all of this and discuss this with your team. If you want to message me and I will give you a hand.

First ruling is against wardens telling people to just kill themselves, such as "jump into lava," it does not include standard minigames that utilize RNG as the warden is not forcing/guaranteeing the death. I don't see in your post commentary against this ruling?

To understand the second ruling, you need to take into consideration the fact that we have it enshrined in our Jailbreak system that you are not KOS for rebelling, but more-so for being caught rebelling. If a user has a rebel status, but no BLU can say if it was obtained through "legal" (as in non-rebelling) ways or not, then there is no reason to kill the user as they are not a confirmed rebeller. Even if it were a Freeday, where origin of rebel statuses may seem more clear-cut, there is still possibilty of the RED retailiating an attempted freekill (which I would argue is justified under self-preservation, but perhaps that is still debatable) or the RED having being entrapped in an area by the BLU (which is justified permitting they have been asked to move and a ruling will be added clarifying that).

Meat Grinder is planned to get it's own separate explanation. I forget why forcing taunts and Meat Grinder are disallowed under the same ruling but I agree on defining it. Also not sure why you removed the RPS for LR exception in your suggested ruling, but it is planned to be kept.

Also, after having skimmed a bit through your post, I found more that proves my point about needless explanations:
  • KOS - kill on sight
Does not define Kill on Sight

  • KOS - Kill on sight. A status utilized for rebelling prisoners meaning that they are to be killed.
I also replaced "Must be played to completion" with "Warden must establish a win condition for prisoners which prisoners must attempt to complete."

I understand where you are coming from wanting the rules to be clearly defined and specific, but we really don't need to go into great detail specifying stuff like this. I mean people don't read the Jailbreak rules as it is. Kill on sight explains itself, and completion could be clarified by just stating "completion of round," allowing warden to do whatever would allow for him to end Hide and Seek midway which is not the intended purpose of the game as I'd assume would be implied by how it is now.

I am of the firm belief that these rules do need to be clearly defined and specific because when the rules are not clearly defined or not specified then it turns into the interpretation of the administrator/staff dealing with the issue to determine how it is. Considering all staff are different people this creates a range of slightly different rules books per administrator/staff. Perhaps the uncertainty of the rules will lead to arguments dividing the staff team and while the rank structure(if two of the same rank get into it this would only escalate the division) may solve this the underlying damage to relations will be scarred, at least for a while. Server-side, we suffer because people use these gray areas constantly to loophole and piss off players, such as myself, decreasing your player base.

To understand the second ruling, you need to take into consideration the fact that we have it enshrined in our Jailbreak system that you are not KOS for rebelling, but more-so for being caught rebelling.

As a player who sacrificed my time to read, understand, and abide these rules; I shouldn't need a separate explanation from you on how the rule actually works. While I appreciate the explanation and it was very helpful, wouldn't have been more helpful just to have it in the rules from the start?

I mean people don't read the Jailbreak rules as it is.

Please never ever type that again as a staff, none the less as an administrator(a someone prominent rank from my understanding) representing Wonderland. If your statement were to be true, then we wouldn't have the many legal codes that we do. However, we do have those many legal codes. Not because everyone reads them religiously, but because both the enforcers and those who are enforced on require the knowledge that can be referenced to understand what is okay and what is not. Consider a staff, especially newer ones, who might not know whether something is punishable or not because the individual in question referred to this grey area. Rendering them useless as an enforcer. Rules are required to define what we can and cannot do. They cannot function as an ambiguous gray area.

I agree with @Eight, Terms of Service, Introduction and other such things are not necessary at the moment. If we do, however, find ourselves needing it, this will be the first place we'll look.

  1. AFK definition has already been updated to be more inline with what you're saying.
  2. With LR/Warden Hogging, @Eight has explained it well.
  3. Same for FF.
  4. CC will be removed in next update. (Definition.)
  5. More unnecessary changes. Its common enough.
  6. We've added a few examples of Favourtism to the rules.
  7. Baiting definitions and rules have been updated to include forcebait and better address what baiting is and what isn't.
  8. All minigames and Round Days have been updated to help better define what's okay.
  9. All mentions of blue or guard have been updated, along with reds.
  10. Grammar issues have been updated.
  11. Meatgrinder has been updated.
  12. VIP Rules will be removed as they are unnecessary now.
  13. Adding that Warden must specify days are active.
  14. We do not under any circumstances want to encourage exploiting.
  15. Defining what games allow cheating.
I'm gonna be honest, we've revamped a lot and it's just easier to give you kinda a synopsis like this. When they release in the near future, we'll give a full update. @Eight has gone into some detail for you already. If you have any suggestions for new rules, please post them here. While I appreciate the effort, it's sorta hard to digest atm.

Yes I agree that rules should be clear but I don't agree that we need to needlessly go on and on about things that are already pretty clear-cut, such as KOS and Warden Hogging definition. Also that is quite a stretch you are making with the staff team IMO. If staff have strained divisions between eachother because of differences in Jailbreak rule interpretation, than there is most likely underlying issues at work. Just because there are differences in how the Jailbreak rules are to be interpreted doesn't automatically equate to that they will cause serious conflict. Plus, even if they were clear-cut, there would still be differences in how the Jailbreak rules should be, so it is not like making rules clear-cut would solve arguing about Jailbreak rules. Furthermore, generally speaking obnoxious rule circumvention that can be equated to trolling, as you seem to be describing, would not be fixed with clearing up gray areas. I mean it's not like trolls are known for following rules.

As a player who sacrificed my time to read, understand, and abide these rules; I shouldn't need a separate explanation from you on how the rule actually works. While I appreciate the explanation and it was very helpful, wouldn't have been more helpful just to have it in the rules from the start?
I mean I can understand that I was a bit weird saying that it was specific to our Jailbreak system, but to be fair if we are going by the notion that in Jailbreak rebellers are KOS by BLUs, then when can a RED possibly be KOS if they are not seen rebelling?

My statement is true though? A lot of people don't read the Jailbreak rules, that's why completely false rulings such as "You can not have >4 BLUs for Cell Wars" run rampant. That's why I want to aim to have the rules as concise as possible. Of course I don't want to sacrifice what is needed to establish the rule in the first place, but I also do not want to needlessly fluff the rules when enough can be established with a few words or a sentence.

Accepted.

We've rearranged the formatting of the Jailbreak rules and considered some suggestions such as "Only staff may do Mic Checks." Refer to the latest update log for a full list of the changes made.
